Thursday 13th December

Brixton Community Base, Talma Road (corner of Probert Road) SW2 1AS.

The evening started at 6.30pm with a hot buffet and continued until 9pm.

Since 2015, local authorities have had a legal duty to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism.

This is known as the ‘Prevent Duty’. There has been uncertainty among parents and communities about what it entails.

This event was the first in a series that Faiths Together in Lambeth plans to run over the next six months

to provide opportunities to engage about Prevent with the staff delivering it in the borough.

Rupert Sutton (Prevent Programme Manager) and Lydia Nixon (Prevent Education Officer) made short presentations

and then attendees (19) asked questions about Prevent, discussed their concerns and made suggestions for future events in the series.
